Kari shares the importance of honesty and deeper meaning than just a 'finished product', that is the future of fashion.

"I think doing away with the 'seasonal' calendar in fashion is so important going forward. It is so much more valuable to release the highest quality crafted designs, completely leaving behind all of the filler pieces that are included in large collections which are unnecessary and essentially just a huge waste of material negatively affecting our planet. I am focused on creating wearable art pieces;  designs that are so thoroughly and thoughtfully made that they can be cherished forever and always hold their quality."  

"Every single garment is hand-sketched by myself and handmade in house, sustainably. Our designs are made with a combination of deadstock materials and the highest quality organic silks and vegan leathers sourced within the city of Los Angeles. I believe in the importance of honesty and integrity and for this reason, everything done at Marilyn Hatten is done with true intent while prioritizing the working conditions for all team members to be safe and of fair wage."

"Relationships are one of the most important things that I value and for this reason I have some of the same team members that I have known since high-school, when I begun really bringing to life my first pieces, still working with me on the construction of each design for Marilyn Hatten to this day. I believe that honesty is so important in fashion in all aspects and that I live my authentic self through my design process is part of the sustainable fashion factor in that who I am in my relationships in and out of Marilyn Hatten should align and a true designer should be who they are when you're looking at their designs and when you're not."
